RuneScape Reignited Is Rebuilding 25 Years of RuneScape

Jagex just unveiled what’s next for RuneScape at RuneFest 2026, and it’s easily one of the biggest reveals the game has seen in years. The developers are officially launching a brand-new chapter with RuneScape Reignited, inviting both new and returning players to rediscover the game and experience RuneScape as it was always meant to be.

For over 25 years, millions of players have experienced the world of Gielinor, whether they’re completing quests, grinding skills, or simply exploring the lands. But a lot has changed throughout those 25 years, and now Jagex is taking RuneScape into a brand-new era.

RuneScape Reignited is rebuilding 25 years of RuneScape history for the modern era, giving both new and veteran players a fresh way to experience the game.

Through the Remastered Journey and Adventure Guide, a fresh economy, brand-new high scores, and a renewed focus on putting players first, Reignited aims to deliver the ultimate RuneScape experience like never before.

Several major improvements are also arriving with RuneScape Reignited, including:

• The removal of Treasure Hunter
• Players starting at Level 3
• A fresh economy
• Official Plugin API support
• New story arcs
• And more

That’s right, RuneScape Reignited launches on December 2, and Jagex already has plenty of new content planned for 2027. The new year will kick off with a series of major story arcs, each tying into long-running RuneScape storylines while introducing new content and gameplay features.

Reignited Roadmap

2027 will unfold across three major story arcs: Hoard of Dragons, which kicks off in January and serves as a sequel to the popular Dragon Slayer quest; City of Gnomes, which continues the Gnome storyline that began all the way back in 2002; and Secrets of Karamja, which will introduce a brand-new end-game raid.

These three story arcs will shape RuneScape’s 2027 content while also bringing a major Agility skill rework, new skilling and solo bosses, new area expansions, and a brand-new Grandmaster Quest.

Plus, that’s not even mentioning the mountain of improvements and quality-of-life updates that will roll out through the Road of Restoration.

With RuneScape Reignited, Jagex isn’t just looking to bring players back to Gielinor. It’s laying the foundation for a whole new era of RuneScape.
