OSRS Just Revealed Menaphos, Hardcore Worlds & More
Jagex just announced one of the biggest roadmaps for Old School RuneScape at Runefest 2026. Players can expect a brand-new end-game raid launching in October, new Hardcore worlds in November, Menaphos finally opening its doors to the world, new quests, tons of new bosses, creatures, areas, a rework to Mining and Smithing, a continuation of the Fairytale questline, and so much more.
The Fractured Archive
First, there’s a mountain of new information and content coming for OSRS, so let’s start with the upcoming Fractured Archive. This update is the first of many and arrives October 20th, introducing Old School’s toughest raid yet, featuring eight brand-new bosses, a streamlined Boss Rush, and new best-in-slot rewards.
In addition, a brand-new PvP tutorial drops October 7th to help newer players learn how to beat other players.
The Chosen Commander
Later this winter, the Chosen Commander update will finally bring the conclusion to Zanik’s storyline! It’s finally time to learn what Bandos plans are for his Chosen Commander and end them once and for all. Players will also revisit Dorgesh-Kann, along with brand-new skilling content.
Hardcore Worlds

Have you wanted to earn your stripes and see how long you can last without dying? Perhaps days, weeks, months, or merely a few minutes. Well, now you can. Jagex is introducing a Hardcore mode on November 4th, with a fresh set of new worlds and a new game economy. Go in solo, with friends, or alongside your favorite creators in factions. Experience the prestige, new wonder, and danger in Hardcore, but most importantly… whatever you do, stay alive.
But if you do inevitably die, you can transfer your hardcore character back to the normal realms, or reset and start over.

Dungeons of Gielinor
Afterward, coming in 2027, we have the Dungeons of Gielinor, which aims to send players back to old dungeons alongside brand-new ones. Along with reintroducing old dungeons, the devs are also adding a new quest, new creatures, and, of course, new bosses.
Menaphos
The day has finally arrived, one that thousands of OSRS fans have been waiting for. The golden gates are finally opening. After 20 years of waiting, Menaphos is finally within reach. Previously, we’ve heard about the city’s wealth, its towering palace, and its importance to the Kharidian Desert. We’ve explored and watched from the outside, but the gates have always remained firmly shut.
But the wait is finally over.
Players can now experience the city of Menaphos with an all-new master-tier quest, new creatures, encounters, a new Skilling Dungeon, and much more.
Mining & Smithing Reforged
As summer approaches, OSRS players are finally getting a bunch of major quality-of-life updates. Some include a full rework of the Mining and Smithing skills, and the developers want the community’s help shaping them for the better.
This patch will also focus heavily on addressing problems the developers and the community have known about for a while.
Fairytale III: Nexus of Power
Next is the conclusion to one of, if not the most requested, storylines the OSRS player base has been asking for. The completion of the Fairytale storyline! Finally, players will see the Fairy Godparent and his orc army trying to take over all of Gielinor.
This update will also ship with new Runecraft training methods, Fairy Ring upgrades, and a new repeatable boss.
The Tower of Xophoros
Lastly, Jagex is keeping the final section of the roadmap pretty close to their chest so far. But one thing is for certain: players should be hyped. The Tower of Xophoros will finally introduce the best slot magic cape to the game, filling in that last piece of the BiS capes.
