Jagex just dropped a ton of news about RuneScape Dragonwilds during RuneFest 2026. Fans finally got more information about the upcoming Luminance update, which will introduce Elves to Dragonwilds. We also learned more about the upcoming Blood Crystal Saga, which will bring back iconic enemies, add new areas and quests, and introduce new gear, decorations, and skills.

And if you thought that was all, Jagex still had more to share about the upcoming Song of Rebellion update: they are adding official modding support!

Elves & Luminance

That’s right, Elves are officially making their way to RuneScape Dragonwilds as part of the game’s first major update since the 1.0 launch. With Luminance, players will finally be able to customize their characters as Elves instead of only playing as Humans.

Jagex is also adding a bunch of Elf-themed building customizations alongside the new character options, letting players give their homes a matching Elven aesthetic.

The update also introduces brand-new quests featuring both friendly and hostile Elves for players to interact with and fight. A new area will also help explain why the Elves have suddenly started appearing throughout Ashenfall.

Lastly, the Luminance update will finally bring another classic RuneScape skill to Dragonwilds: Prayer!

The Blood Crystal Saga

Next year will kick off the Blood Crystal Saga with Song of Rebellion. These updates will bring several iconic enemy encounters from the RuneScape series to Dragonwilds, including Moss Giants, Kebbits, and Implings.

Jagex will also introduce the Hunter skill alongside new areas to explore, quests to complete, gear to collect, and decorations for players’ homes. Some of these new decorations will even take inspiration from the classic RuneScape city of Prifddinas.

Jagex also plans to start rolling out monthly and quarterly updates. Monthly updates will include things like new quests, weapons, decorations, and quality-of-life improvements, building on the content the team has already delivered since Early Access.

Quarterly updates, meanwhile, will focus on larger additions, including major new features and skills like Hunter and Slayer.

Official Mod Support

But that’s not all coming to Dragonwilds! Jagex also announced that RuneScape Dragonwilds will receive official mod support in 2027.

Through a new partnership with CurseForge, Jagex will provide dedicated creation tools alongside an in-game mod browser and installer. Even better, the modding update will launch across all platforms, including consoles.
