RuneFest 2026 Was Huge: RuneScape 4, Reignited, OSRS & More

RuneFest 2026 has officially delivered one of the biggest RuneScape showcases in years, with Jagex revealing major plans for nearly every corner of the franchise. From a brand-new era for the main game to the reveal of RuneScape 4, Dragonwilds’ massive content roadmap, and a huge slate of OSRS updates, RuneScape fans have plenty to look forward to.
Whether you’re returning to Gielinor after years away or you’ve been playing every day, Jagex has made it clear that the RuneScape franchise is entering a new era.
Here’s everything announced during RuneFest 2026.
RuneScape 4

Jagex also dropped a massive surprise at RuneFest 2026 with the reveal of RuneScape 4, officially expanding the franchise to a fourth MMO.
The funny part is that the project has actually been hiding in plain sight.
RuneScape 4 originally started life as Shadows of Ashenfall, a planned RuneScape Dragonwilds expansion set for 2027. Jagex originally wanted to use the project to push Dragonwilds toward a more traditional MMO experience, with persistent servers, larger player counts, social hubs, player trading, and more.
However, the scope eventually grew far beyond what was originally planned. Instead of keeping it as a Dragonwilds expansion, Jagex turned the project into a standalone MMO.
And now, it’s officially known as RuneScape 4.
The project is still in development, and no release window has been announced yet.
RuneScape Reignited

The biggest announcement for the main RuneScape game is undoubtedly RuneScape Reignited, a brand-new chapter designed to rebuild 25 years of RuneScape history for the modern era.
RuneScape Reignited launches on December 2 and will introduce a fresh economy, new high scores, the Remastered Journey and Adventure Guide, and several other changes aimed at creating a more streamlined, player-focused experience.
One of the biggest changes is also the removal of Treasure Hunter, while players will start at Level 3 and gain access to official Plugin API support and new story arcs.
But this is only the beginning. Jagex has already revealed a packed 2027 roadmap featuring three major story arcs, an Agility rework, new skilling and solo bosses, expanded areas, and a brand-new Grandmaster Quest.
RuneScape Dragonwilds

RuneScape Dragonwilds also drew huge attention during RuneFest, with Jagex revealing several major updates coming to the survival RPG.
The upcoming Luminance update will introduce Elves to Ashenfall, allowing players to customize their characters as Elves and build new Elf-themed structures. The update will also add new quests, a new area, and the Prayer skill.
Jagex also revealed more details about the Blood Crystal Saga, which begins next year with Song of Rebellion. The saga will introduce iconic RuneScape enemies, new areas, quests, gear, decorations, and the Hunter & Slayer skill.
And that’s not all. Official mod support is coming to Dragonwilds in 2027 through a new partnership with CurseForge, bringing dedicated creation tools alongside an in-game mod browser and installer for PC and Console.
Old School RuneScape

Old School RuneScape received one of the biggest roadmaps of the entire show, with Jagex revealing a huge lineup of content stretching into 2027.
The Fractured Archive, a brand-new end-game raid, launches on October 20 with eight new bosses and new best-in-slot rewards. Hardcore Worlds will follow on November 4, giving players a fresh and much more dangerous way to experience OSRS.
And after roughly 20 years of waiting, Menaphos is finally opening its golden gates, bringing a new master-tier quest, creatures, encounters, and a Skilling Dungeon.
That’s just scratching the surface, with new dungeons, bosses, quests, skill reworks, and the conclusions to both Zanik’s and the Fairytale storylines also on the way.
A New Era for RuneScape

RuneFest 2026 made one thing very clear: Jagex isn’t slowing down the RuneScape franchise anytime soon.
And honestly, this is only the beginning. RuneScape Reignited launches on December 2, Dragonwilds has major updates coming soon, RuneScape 4 is already taking shape, and Old School RuneScape is preparing to roll out new raids, worlds, areas, quests, and more. Jagex has packed the next few months and all of 2027 with new RuneScape content, meaning there won’t be much time to sit around waiting for what’s next.
Jagex is also taking RuneScape beyond video games, partnering with Charlie White, aka MoistCr1TiKaL, and LA-based production company Lyrical Media to bring Gielinor to life in a brand-new animated series. The adaptation will explore the world of RuneScape, its characters, and the stories that have kept players coming back for more for over 25 years.
With so much already announced and even more still to come, RuneScape fans have a seriously busy year ahead.
