METRO Redux Is Getting a Major Next-Gen Upgrade

Deep Silver just dropped a surprise announcement for its older METRO titles, months ahead of the release of METRO 2039. Later this month, both METRO 2033 Redux and Last Light Redux will receive a major next-gen update for consoles and PC.
Old World, New Look

That’s right, the METRO developers just confirmed that both older games are getting a facelift. This isn’t a full remaster or a remake, either. The original METRO Redux experience and aesthetic are being preserved while the games receive a host of modern visual and technical upgrades.
All platforms will receive support for 4K textures, improved animation fidelity, higher-quality audio, and richer environmental detail. The update will also introduce a wide range of community-led bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements.
Best of all, the entire update is completely free for all current and future owners of the METRO Redux games.
The METRO Redux Next-Gen Update will add native support for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. Each platform will also receive its own enhancements, including PSSR support on PlayStation 5 Pro, TSR upscaling and improved anti-aliasing on Xbox Series X, and Spatial Audio support across Xbox platforms.
Console players will be able to experience the games in 4K at 60FPS or upscaled 4K at 120FPS, depending on their setup. PC players are also getting DLSS support, Spatial Audio, additional quality-of-life improvements, and a selection of frequently requested community fixes.
While the timing of this update may seem unexpected, there’s a pretty big reason behind it. The original METRO games have now surpassed a massive milestone, with the series’ older titles reaching 50 million copies sold.
With METRO 2039 on the horizon, it looks like Deep Silver is giving players one more reason to revisit where the series began.
It has been an incredible journey over the last two decades and as we approach METRO 2039, we are proud to have welcomed 50M survivors into the depths of the Metro.
