Battlefield 6 just gave us a fresh look at what’s coming to REDSEC in Season 5, and its battle royale mode is about to get a whole lot faster. With fewer players, more maps, faster circles, and shorter matches, DICE is shaking things up to get players into the action sooner.

High Stakes, High Speed

Season 5 is bringing some of the biggest changes to Battlefield 6’s REDSEC yet. After community feedback pointed out that matches took too long to reach those pivotal, high-stakes moments, the devs are speeding things up drastically with a new mode called Rapid Royale.

The new Vegas Strip Rapid Royale trailer showcases several changes you might have missed. For starters, the maximum player count is dropping to just 36 players, putting a greater focus on smaller, faster-paced matches. Rapid Royale will launch on Vegas Strip and Mirak Valley, with Area 51 joining the map rotation later in the season.

DICE also plans to introduce even more maps in future seasons, each featuring a smaller play area and faster-closing ring to keep the pressure on. Of course, you’ll still need to scavenge for valuable loot along the way, including weapons, body armor, single-use respawn tokens, and vehicles.

Matches are now expected to last between 10 and 13 minutes, with both three-player squads and solo play available. Players will also jump from a lower altitude, while the familiar opening cinematic is getting the boot in favor of a quicker start.

There are a few other changes worth keeping an eye on, too. Players will drop briefcases that grant XP and help upgrade specializations, while some item containers can respawn during matches. This should encourage players to keep moving and adapt their strategies instead of camping in one spot for too long.

Overall, Rapid Royale looks like a major shift for REDSEC, cutting down on downtime and putting the focus back on the firefights that make Battlefield so much fun.
