The highly anticipated atmospheric first-person fishing adventure DREADMOOR, which has already racked up more than 400,000 wishlists on Steam, has finally dropped its demo for everyone to dive into!

What is DREADMOOR?

In short, DREADMOOR is a Lovecraftian immersive sim where you take the helm of a fishing trawler and explore a world completely flooded by a catastrophic human mistake. Coastal regions have disappeared beneath the water, while much of the remaining land has also been swallowed by the sea.

You play as a scavenger and fisherman, traveling between scattered settlements, catching fish to trade, upgrading your boat, and crafting better equipment from the scraps you find along the way. You’ll need all of it, too, because something has gone horribly wrong with the creatures that now inhabit the remaining land and waters.

DREADMOOR has it all. A game built around fishing is already a winner in my book, but unlike your typical fishing adventure, this one eventually asks you to get your hands dirty. You start small, sticking to safer areas while catching whatever you can and earning enough money to purchase better gear, fishing supplies, and upgrades for your boat.

But eventually, you’ll have to venture into darker waters. That’s when things start getting interesting. You’ll need to worry about more than whatever happens to be on the end of your hook, as some of the creatures lurking beneath the surface are far too smart to take the bait.

Overall, DREADMOOR looks like a fantastic blend of quiet, atmospheric fishing and creeping horror. One minute you’re peacefully sailing across the water, and the next you’re wondering what exactly is moving beneath your boat. It keeps you on your toes without sacrificing the moments of calm that make fishing so relaxing in the first place.

You can try the DREADMOOR demo on Steam now, joining the 400,000+ other players who have already been waiting to get their hands on this intriguing fishing horror adventure.
