Hytale Chapter 1 just launched today, and there’s a bunch of amazing additions coming to the game that players can finally get their hands on. From new Goblin enemies and dungeons to boss battles, Runestone systems, and more, there’s plenty to dive into. Here’s everything arriving with the Out of the Breach update.

Out of the Breach

But before we start, like any survival crafting game, the community often wants to avoid spoilers for some of the new content. Keeping with that spirit, we’ll be showcasing some of the notable highlights that were either shown through official promotional material or revealed by the devs themselves.

So, let’s dive into the Goblins and Chapter 1. Firstly, when you log into Hytale, you’ll notice a brand-new Chapter screen. This lays out the objectives you should aim to complete throughout your journey, and doing so will net you some free cosmetic rewards.

But of course, the star of the show is the new Goblin faction. They’re arriving in a bunch of different ways, including Goblin Breaches, which are temporary portals that appear throughout the world, and the new biome, the Guttering Hollows.

Inside, you’ll run into the majority of the new Goblin faction, with enemies that come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, personalities, and combat styles. There’s a lot to discover here, and the Goblins aren’t the only ones you’ll have to worry about.

That’s right, the Goblins are also fighting back against the ever-present threat of the Void, which has a presence inside the Guttering Hollows. You’ll also find new Void Assassins, puzzles, and Hunts as you venture into the far side of the Breach.

Scrappy Goblin Gadgets

The Goblins are also bringing a bunch of new gadgets for players to acquire or even build from scrap. These include some pretty handy tools that should make exploring the world a whole lot easier.

Here’s a look at some of the new gadgets arriving with the update:

  • Scrap Drill: Chews through a 2×2 patch of blocks at once.
  • Scrap Glider: Lets you take to the skies, dive, and climb while keeping your momentum when deployed. Just mind your Stamina, or that landing might get interesting!
  • Rocket Boots: Give you a double jump to reach places you couldn’t get to before.
  • Hookshot: Alongside Hook Anchors, lets you zip across different points in the world with ease.
  • Spyglass: Zooms in on whatever is happening in the distance.

Runestones & Abilities

Hytale’s new Runestones and abilities are another major talking point of this update, right alongside the Goblins. Out of the Breach introduces a brand-new ability system built around Runestones, giving players more ways to customize their combat.

To get started, you’ll need to collect Runestones and slot them into a Runebinder’s Lattice to shape how you fight. Players can now equip up to two Ability Runestones, while Modifier Runestones let you change how those abilities behave.

Abilities cost mana, which regenerates on its own over time. You can also get a boost by landing your weapon’s signature ability on an enemy, giving you another reason to mix things up during combat.

At launch, there are seven Ability Runestones to collect, including Fireball, Ground Slam, Wind Strike, Enrage, Imbue Poison, Chain Hook, and Charged Shot. On top of that, there are eight Modifier Runestones to experiment with.

Of course, this is only the beginning, and more Runestones and abilities will arrive in future updates.

The Deepworks

At the end of Chapter 1, you’ll get to enter Hytale’s brand-new dungeon, the Deepworks.

Here, you’ll need to make your way through winding rooms, each introducing new challenges along the way. From fighting hordes of Goblins to dodging flames and falling debris, there’s plenty to keep you busy as you work your way through the dungeon.

You’ll also need to solve puzzles, activate checkpoints, and take on the Elite Goblin Feastmaster if you want to make it through in one piece.

Minigames

But just in case you need a break from all the fighting and Goblins, Hytale is also rolling out a brand-new Minigames mode.

These are short party games that typically last around a minute, making them perfect for a quick break between adventures. You can jump into online lobbies, create custom games for your friends, or just play a few rounds while waiting for everyone to get online.

Brand-New Cosmetics

Lastly, there are over 100 new cosmetic options arriving with this first Chapter, including new hairstyles, mouths, eyes, earrings, hats, and plenty more!

So, whether you’re looking to explore the new Goblin content, test out the Runestone system, or just give your character a fresh look, there’s plenty to check out in Hytale’s first major chapter.
