Final Fantasy Resonance Becomes the 2nd Most Popular FF Game on Steam

After previously breaking into the top three most popular Final Fantasy games on PC, Final Fantasy Resonance has already set another record on its second day! Within just 48 hours of its full release, Resonance has climbed from third to the second most-played single-player Final Fantasy game on Steam, reaching an impressive 38,182 concurrent players!
Final Fantasy Resonance Climbs to #2 on Steam
Previously, the three most popular single-player Final Fantasy games on PC were Final Fantasy Resonance, Final Fantasy XVI, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Now, Resonance has pushed its way into second place, trailing only FFVII Rebirth, which reached around 40,000 concurrent players.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that players are loving the return to the classic RPG adventure formula. But it’s not just the turn-based combat that’s helping drive those numbers. The dynamic camera angles, pixelated 3D models, and gorgeous visual effects blend old-school 2D gameplay with modern 3D presentation, giving the game a style of its own.
On top of that, players can summon Echoes of beloved characters from Final Fantasy’s past, each bringing their own unique skills and abilities to the adventure. Whether you’ve only played one Final Fantasy game or have followed the series for decades, there’s something here for everyone.
Hopefully, Square Enix is paying attention to these numbers and sees the potential for more 2D and 3D Final Fantasy games in the future. If Resonance is any indication, there’s still plenty of love for this classic RPG style!
