As we get closer and closer to the official launch of GTA 6 next month, there are still plenty of unanswered questions the community wants answers to. But one of the biggest has to be: What is going to happen to GTA Online when GTA 6 launches?

The Fate of Grand Theft Auto Online

The short answer is that GTA Online isn’t going anywhere after GTA 6 launches. Take-Two Interactive has indicated that the game will continue receiving support even after Rockstar’s next blockbuster arrives. So, players won’t have to worry about losing access to the existing multiplayer servers anytime soon.

However, there is still no official word on when Grand Theft Auto 6 will get its own multiplayer mode or a new version of GTA Online. The same goes for a PC release, although we might already have a rough idea of when it could arrive, with an early or mid-2027 launch being a possibility.

As for new content in GTA Online, we also don’t have any official confirmation on what Rockstar has planned. It’s possible that updates could slow down or eventually shift into maintenance mode once GTA 6’s online experience is announced. However, Rockstar is still pushing out plenty of new content, even with GTA 6 just a month away. Just look at the massive Halloween event currently underway!

At the end of the day, the future of GTA Online remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: Grand Theft Auto 6 isn’t going to pull the plug on GTA Online overnight. For now, players can keep enjoying the game while we wait to see what Rockstar has planned for the future.
