Far Far West is back with a giant Halloween update, bringing tons of new cosmetics, including skins, titles, mount skins, emotes, and more. But that’s not all! This update also makes some major changes to modifiers, introduces a brand-new scaling difficulty system, and adds plenty of new content to explore.

Fear Fear West

The latest Far Far West update, also known as Fear Fear West, brings a ton of limited-time goodies and brand-new additions to the game. So, let’s start with some of the spooky seasonal content you won’t want to miss!

First up, there are three new time-limited objectives, a brand-new Halloween boss with exclusive attack patterns, plenty of skins to unlock, and rituals to perform! The event takes place across all maps, with the mission selection screen showing which contracts feature Halloween objectives.

These missions feature up to two of three unique resources you can collect:

  • Pumpkins: Kill the Halloween boss to collect them.
  • Skulls: Find a haunted cemetery and destroy the flying skulls.
  • Feathers: Find a crow statue and shoot down the fleeing crow.

Once you’ve gathered enough of these ingredients, you can perform a ritual back in the lobby to earn Haunted Candles. These candles can then be spent to unlock a variety of Halloween-exclusive cosmetics, including:

  • Character skin: Sawbones
  • Character skin: Scarecrow
  • Character skin: Pumpkin Jack
  • Mount skin: Ghost
  • Emote: Spooked
  • Emote: Ritual
  • Title: Dies First
  • Title: Scarecrow
  • Title: Bounty Haunter
  • Title: Legend of the Fear Fear West

But you may be wondering, “What happens to all my stuff when the event ends?” Don’t worry, your unlocked cosmetics aren’t going anywhere! However, any leftover Skulls, Pumpkins, and Feathers will be removed from your inventory, while your remaining Haunted Candles will be converted into Souls at a 1-to-2 rate.

Additional Changes

Outside of the spooky seasonal content, there’s plenty more arriving in Far Far West. First up, collecting temporary Jokers during a mission is now instantaneous. When you pick one up, you’ll also get to choose between two different Jokers of the same rarity, giving you more control over your build and making it easier to find the upgrades you’re looking for.

Next, Modifiers are getting a pretty significant overhaul. When the system was first introduced, Modifiers could be overly punishing for newer players. Now, there’s a new way to spice up your missions while earning some extra rewards.

Modifiers can be activated during a mission by finding and interacting with up to two Dealmakers. Each Dealmaker offers two Modifiers to choose from, with the rewards varying based on their difficulty. A third Modifier is also available at random, with fixed rewards.

Lastly, Far Far West is getting a brand-new scaling difficulty system. Now, completing specific objectives and performing certain actions will steadily increase the difficulty of enemies throughout your mission. This new mechanic is known as Disturbance.

Here are some examples of actions that increase your Disturbance:

  • Activate a Lighthouse: +5%
  • Finish a Quest: +5%
  • Start an Anvil: +5%
  • Kill a Miniboss: +5%
  • Activate an Easy Modifier: +5%
  • Activate a Classic Modifier: +10%
  • Finish the Main Objective: +10%
  • Complete a Side Objective: +15%
  • Trigger a Storm Trap: +15%
  • Kill the Boss: +30%

Once you reach certain Disturbance thresholds, enemies will receive the following buffs for the remainder of the mission:

  • 35% Disturbance: Enemies move 5% faster.
  • 70% Disturbance: Enemies move 15% faster.
  • 100% Disturbance: Enemies move 30% faster, and the spawner boss gains 10% additional health.
    • Reaching 100% Disturbance also triggers the RageStorm Modifier.

New Content

If you thought that was the end of the update, you’d be mistaken! The developers are also introducing a brand-new secondary weapon: the Jetpack. This new weapon lets you soar through the air before crashing down on unsuspecting enemies. Who doesn’t love a good aerial assault?

There’s also a brand-new questline in the Woodlands, alongside an entirely new map called Redwood. On top of that, you’ll get to tackle a new main objective that tasks you and your fellow bots with powering up a massive buzzsaw and getting it back up and running.

Looking for something to do between missions? You can now participate in a Horse Race at the spawn area, in the fields behind the cemetery.

Finally, the update adds a bunch of new classic skins and gives all points of interest a fresh, spooky makeover to celebrate the season.

With a new Halloween event, more ways to customize your character, revamped Modifiers, and an entirely new difficulty system, there’s plenty to dig into in Far Far West’s Fear Fear West update!
