Dark Light: Survivor Brings a Fresh Twist to Roguelikes
By EncampedWeevil | YesterdayDozens of brand-new indie games release every week, each offering its own unique take on familiar genres. But every once in a while, a game comes along that refuses to stick to just one formula. Dark Light: Survivor is one of those games, seamlessly blending dark sci-fi action roguelike gameplay with ARPG loot systems and third-person shooter combat.
What is Dark Light: Survivor?
Overall, Dark Light: Survivor is a blend of several elements and different mechanics, but we still start with the most eye-catching one. Dark Light allows the player to switch from multiple camera angles, going from a top-down view and TPS aiming to a third-person over-the-shoulder style.
Board the Phantom Train, humanity’s last hope for escaping the Dark Void, and journey through a shattered multiverse. Fight against endless horrors, scavenge for deadly weapons, and form powerful builds as one of the last Dark Hunters.
Fight across three deadly worlds, from a ruined town consumed by demons and cybernetic horrors, a frozen battlefield where giant insect beasts roam among the wreckage of ancient warships, or cursed castle ruins swallowed by the Dark Void.
Currently, there are three unique classes to choose from, all with distinct skills, strengths, and upgrade trees. Plus, there’s a neat feature that lets you toggle between cinematic 4K visuals and nostalgic Pixel Mode. However, Pixel Mode isn’t just a visual change.
Dark Light: Survivor is currently in early access, and you can grab a copy for 22% off before August 21st on Steam.
