The streets of the Cursed Apple are always changing. Deadlock just dropped its massive City Never Sleeps update, bringing forth a massive amount of changes, including another 6 heroes to vote for in the coming weeks and a full map rework, again.

Beautiful, Deadly, Familiar

Deadlock’s primary three-lane map in the Cursed Apple just got another massive facelift. All three lanes have gotten massive thematic upgrades, atmosphere, locations, creatures, and much more.

So let’s get started, but one thing is important to remember: you might recognize a handful of locations from the old map, but you are gonna need to learn a bunch of new locations.

So, Yellow, Blue & Green lanes all now look massively different from one another.

Yellow lane, or York, holds a lot of the industrial and financial aspects of New York. From big locations like the Stock Exchange, to the Seaport Dock, or even getting a close look at the Old Fairfax Factories.

Blue Lane, or Broadway, now houses the nightlife of the Cursed Apple. Everything from Uptown, Times Square, and Downtown. From the bustling nightclubs, shops, and lots of city attractions. It’s smooth and paved, unlike the other lanes, which have more varied hills and slopes from leftover parts of industrial projects.

Lastly, Green Lane, or Greenwich, holds more wildlife, arts, and cryptic creatures. From Umbria University to Central Park, all the way down to the Brownstones. There’s a lot more life and mystery lurking in these communities and woods.

The Jungle

Between the lanes also houses a bunch of new sites, smells, and horrors. There are now 4 districts, hidden between the 3 primary lanes. The Theater, Chinatown, Haunted Lot, Plaza Districts.

Each of these areas includes not just changes to the overall map and landscape of Deadlock, but comes with a bunch of brand new jungle camps, or now referred to as Haunts.

Haunts are now the neutral camps you are used to farming between waves, but now filled with so much class and character depending on their district.

For example, wandering into Chinatown, the jungle camps, aka Haunts, are now Festival Spirits, souls encased inside festive lanterns, or Crabbage Pots, plants given twisted shape and life thanks to whatever is in the city’s water supply.

Every district has different Haunts, and a lot have different abilities and will now actually move around in their territory, rather than stand still and auto-attack you. Some can explode like the Barrel Mimics, and some throw small little bombs like the Festival Spirits.

New Points Of Interest

Each district also has some new interesting and some cases breathtaking locations. Inside the Plaza, there sits a small area shrouded in purple fog, aka the Sunken Plaza. This small landmark holds a bunch of jungle caps, Sinner Sacrifices, but comes at the cost of dulling your senses to the outside world. No one can see or hear outside, so you never know who will jump into the mist.

Or ascend to the top of the Chinatown Bell Tower, seeking all the rewards at the top, at the cost of striking the bell to get them. The Sunken Plaza invites you to stay low, whereas the Bell Tower’s rings echo across the entire map. So play it safe, or don’t.

New Map Items

Lastly, there are also a bunch of new map items around the streets of the Cursed Apple. Now while doing your box route, you might encounter Tough Crates, which require a heavy melee to break open, but promise extra souls.

Buff Containers also got a facelift. The golden statues now also include Spirit Resist, Bullet Resist, Ability Range, and Move Speed permanent bonuses, just as they always did, but now with a new thematic look.

Also, while moving around the map, you can see some flying green apples, called Healing Snacks. These little apples grant you a healing orb if you come into contact with them, providing you with some extra healing while you roam around the map.

But easily one of the more important additions are the new Steam Vents. These act like brushes from other MOBAs, providing you with invisibility and a slight amount of regeneration whilst you stand on them. These are found sparingly around the map, but now make for great ambush positions.
