The Terrifier has officially arrived in the Dead by Daylight PTB, and Art the Clown is already looking like one of the most versatile Killers in the game. With a bag full of deadly toys, several unique attacks, and a new Torture mechanic, Art brings plenty of ways to terrorize Survivors and mix up combat.

New Killer: The Terrifier

Art the Clown is shaping up to be a true jack-of-all-trades Killer thanks to his new power, which lets him cycle through a selection of weapons. From throwing bottles of acid and blasting Survivors with a flamethrower to firing a handgun, Art has plenty of tricks up his sleeve.

Power: Bag of Toys

Hold the Ability button to open the Bag of Toys and select one of two random Toys. After you select a Toy, the Bag of Toys enters a cooldown and cannot be opened again until it expires.

Special Items: Toys

Toys can damage healthy Survivors and inflict the Torture status effect on injured Survivors. Hold the Power button to ready a Toy, then tap the Attack button to use it. Each Toy is single-use.

  • Acid Bottle: Throw acid bottles at Survivors or create Acid Puddles. Causes the Torture effect.
  • Flail: Perform a sweeping attack that can hit Survivors over certain obstacles. Causes the Torture effect.
  • Handgun: Fire a bullet at a Survivor. Causes the Torture effect.
  • Flamethrower: Spray a stream of fire that can ignite Pallets, Windows, and Generators. Causes the Torture effect.
  • Bike Horn: Reveal Survivors with Killer Instinct and inflict Oblivious for X seconds. Also resets the timer on active Torture effects.

Art’s power revolves around combining his Toys to finish off injured Survivors. First, use a Toy to inflict Torture on an injured Survivor. Then, hit that Survivor with a different Toy to down them and apply the Terrified status effect.

Special Action: Taunt

Press the Ability button to Taunt. Taunting a Terrified Survivor who is hooked or downed grants one point of Deadliness to all Toys. This also removes the Survivor’s Terrified status effect.

Deadliness

Whenever a Toy applies the Torture status effect, it gains one point of Deadliness. Once a Toy reaches maximum Deadliness, it can down injured Survivors.

The Bike Horn works a little differently. Once it reaches maximum Deadliness, it interrupts Survivors repairing Generators or healing and instantly regresses their progress.

The Terrifier’s Killer Perks

Art the Clown also arrives with three new Killer perks, each offering a different way to disrupt Survivors and turn the trial in his favor.

  • Laughingstock
    • Survivors within 12 meters of a completed Generator trigger this perk when they leave the area. The effect lingers for 3/4/5 seconds.
    • You can see the Auras of completed Generators.
    • Survivors affected by the perk gain Exhausted and Oblivious.
  • Kill Spree
    • Once all remaining Survivors have reached two Hook States and all Generators are completed, you can kill Survivors.
    • Both Exit Gate Switches become blocked while you kill a Survivor.
    • After you finish killing a Survivor, the effect ends after 6/8/10 seconds.
  • Funny Business
    • Whenever you damage a Generator, you gain 10% Haste for 10 seconds and trigger one of four random effects.
    • This perk has a 60/50/40-second cooldown, and the same effect cannot trigger twice in a row.
    • Possible effects include:
      • Your 10% Haste lasts five seconds longer.
      • You get stunned for two seconds.
      • The affected Generator becomes blocked for 30 seconds.
      • Confetti appears, but nothing else happens.

New Survivor: Sienna Shaw

Fans of the Terrifier movies might recognize Sienna Shaw, who first appeared in Terrifier 2. Now she’s making her way into the Fog as the newest Dead by Daylight Survivor, bringing three unique perks.

  • Valkyrie’s Rage
    • After being chased for 40/35/30 seconds, your next successful Pallet stun lasts 75% longer.
  • Shared Trauma
    • Whenever you take a Protection Hit, all Survivors within 12 meters recover from Exhausted while running for 30/35/40 seconds.
    • You can also see the Auras of Exhausted Survivors within 32 meters.
  • Best Gift Ever
    • Start the trial with 4/5/6 Tokens. The first time you drop an Item of each type, spend one Token to have the Entity consume that Item.
    • Each Item type grants a different bonus:
      • Flashlight: Whenever you stun the Killer, you also blind them for two seconds.
      • Fog Vial: After a fast vault, your Scratch Marks disappear 50% faster for five seconds.
      • Key: Gain +1 rummage on each Chest.
      • Map: Auras you see remain visible for one additional second.
      • Medkit: While healing another Survivor, you also gain healing progress at 25% speed.
      • Toolbox: See the Auras of the three Generators closest to each other.

New Map and Mori System Changes

Beyond the new Killer, Survivor, and perks, the latest Dead by Daylight PTB introduces another major addition: the Hartshorne Mall map. Behaviour Interactive is also rolling out significant changes to the Mori system.

Welcome to Hartshorne Mall

Behaviour has teased Hartshorne Mall for some time, but its arrival alongside The Terrifier isn’t just a crossover addition. The map also expands Dead by Daylight’s own lore, with a disturbing backstory involving Dwight Fairfield.

Here’s the description:

“Dwight was no older than five when he lost his parents in the Hartshorne Mall. A place that was once a magical escape twisted into something more horrifying. He ducked behind a door marked ‘Employees Only’, and found himself somewhere completely different: somewhere quiet, but no less disturbing. Something called out to him. He followed the call… and woke up at home, his parents pleading him to tell where he went. He did not answer. He could not remember.”

The new map adds another mysterious piece to Dead by Daylight’s growing lore, suggesting Hartshorne Mall has a much darker history than it first appears.

Dead by Daylight Is Changing Its Mori System

The PTB also introduces a major overhaul to the Mori system, dividing Moris into three categories:

  • Finisher Mori
  • Power Mori
  • Memento Mori Offering and Perk Mori

Starting with The Terrifier, all upcoming Killers will follow this updated system. However, not every Killer will have a Power Mori. Instead, any Mori animations they receive will fall into the appropriate categories.

We can already see this system in action with Art the Clown, who appears to have more Mori variations than any other Killer. Alongside his standard Finisher Mori, he has several animations tied to his power.

There may even be a unique Mori for each of his five Toys, excluding his bat. If that’s the case, Art could arrive with a seriously impressive collection of kill animations, giving players tons of gruesome ways to finish off their victims.
