Jagex just announced that Melvor Idle 2, the sequel to the beloved casual idle RPG, is on the way! Originally released in 2021, Melvor Idle quickly became a favorite among RuneScape fans looking for something a little different from their usual grind. Now, the sequel is building on those foundations with a bigger world, revamped visuals, and deeper combat systems.

Melvor Idle 2

Melvor Idle 2 brings a ton of new features, improvements, and quality-of-life changes over the original. From what we know so far, here’s what you can expect:

  • 5 New Skills
  • Day/Night Cycle and Weather
  • Brand-New Combat Mechanics
  • New Game Modes
  • Mastery Guilds
  • An In-Game Codex
  • Current Action Tracking
  • An Event Log
  • Updated Bank and Equipment Management
  • And much more!

Like the original, Melvor Idle 2 keeps that familiar idle RPG gameplay that so many RuneScape fans love. It’s perfect for players who want to scratch that progression itch without constantly grinding their way to level 99 in every skill in Gielinor.

But the sequel isn’t just more of the same. Melvor Idle 2 is already shaping up to be a major improvement over its predecessor, with several features planned to keep players coming back for more:

  • Regular Expansions with new content and higher level caps.
  • Cross-Platform Cloud Saving to keep your progress connected across supported platforms.
  • Offline Progression so your character keeps progressing even when you’re away.
  • Pets, Achievements, and plenty of familiar features to discover.

But easily the biggest addition to Melvor Idle 2 is that the game will be fully moddable! That’s right, players will be able to customize and expand their experience with user-created mods through a built-in mod manager. This opens the door for all kinds of new possibilities, giving the community more ways to make the game their own.

If all of this sounds up your alley, you don’t have to wait until launch to jump in. You can try the Melvor Idle 2 demo right now on Steam, with Early Access officially arriving on November 17, 2026.

And don’t worry about losing your progress! The developers have confirmed that demo saves will carry over into Early Access, so you can keep building your character when the full adventure begins.
