Crimson Desert is getting even bigger with the release of Charting the Unknown, its first paid DLC expansion, which just released on October 29th. The expansion takes players beyond Pywel’s familiar shores with new storylines, ocean exploration, underwater treasures, romance, and plenty of new ways to build your own corner of the world.

Charting New Adventures in Crimson Desert

One of the biggest additions in Charting the Unknown is the ability to venture out into the ocean. Players can build their own ships, sail to uncharted islands, and dive beneath the waves to uncover hidden treasures, sunken ruins, and mysterious new locations.

Of course, the ocean isn’t just about sightseeing. New creatures, mounts, and threats await beneath the surface, giving players even more to discover throughout Pywel. You’ll also need to manage your breath while underwater, so bringing the right equipment can make a big difference during longer dives.

The expansion also continues the stories of Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane, giving each character a new journey to follow. From dangerous political conflicts to ancient secrets hidden beneath the waves, there’s plenty of new story content for players to uncover.

That’s not all, either. The DLC introduces new relationship mechanics that let Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane develop closer bonds with certain characters. Build enough trust, and those relationships can eventually blossom into romance and even marriage.

Build a Home, Find Romance, and Make Your Fortune

Exploration isn’t the only thing getting an upgrade. Charting the Unknown introduces an expanded housing system that lets players build their homes from the ground up, including customizing layouts and deciding where to place walls and windows. Players can also claim certain castles and customize their interiors and courtyards, giving them even more control over their surroundings.

If you’d rather focus on making money, you can also rent and manage businesses across Pywel. From restaurants to smithies, these new management options give players another way to build their fortune while exploring the world. And for those who just want to test their combat skills, the new Garden of Trials lets players face off against familiar bosses in a series of battles for special rewards.

Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown Is Out Now

Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown is available now on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Mac.

The DLC costs $24.99 and requires the base game, so you’ll need to own Crimson Desert before setting sail on these new adventures.

With new storylines, ocean exploration, expanded housing, romance, and business management, Charting the Unknown gives players plenty of new ways to experience Pywel. Whether you’re returning to continue Kliff’s journey or looking for another reason to lose yourself in Crimson Desert’s massive world, there’s a lot waiting beyond the horizon.
