Overwatch LE SSERAFIM Skins Spark Price Debate

The newest Overwatch x LE SSERAFIM collaboration is now live, bringing a fresh collection of K-pop-inspired skins to the game. For a limited time, players can grab new cosmetics for D.Va, Moira, Mizuki, Sierra, Anran, and Freja.

While the latest collaboration is already proving to be a hit with some fans, there is one major point of contention surrounding the event: the price.

Made My Night Collection

The third LE SSERAFIM crossover with Overwatch is officially live and will run from September 12 through September 28. Alongside the brand-new Made My Night collection, Blizzard is also bringing back the previous Fearless skinline, this time with new recolors for Mercy, Juno, D.Va, Ashe, and Illari.

And if that’s not enough, players can also earn some free rewards by completing in-game challenges, including a new reward featuring Fawksey James Junkrat.

So, on paper, there is plenty for Overwatch players to get excited about. Unfortunately, the excitement starts to fade once you take a look at the price tag.

Too Bright, Too Expensive

There is one glaring issue with this collaboration: the skins are expensive.

A single skin from the new LE SSERAFIM collection costs $20, which is already a pretty steep asking price for one cosmetic. If you want to collect the entire bundle, even with its advertised 74% discount, you’re still looking at spending well over $100.

That’s a tough sell, especially when the collaboration is built around one of the biggest K-pop groups in the world. In fact, it’s arguably cheaper to buy a ticket to see LE SSERAFIM live than to purchase most of the skin bundles in Overwatch.

The community has already been increasingly vocal about the pricing of Mythic and Ultra-tier cosmetics, and those complaints aren’t likely to disappear anytime soon. With the LE SSERAFIM collaboration putting another hefty price tag on its cosmetics, Overwatch players are likely to have plenty more to say about Blizzard’s pricing strategy.
