Modern Warfare 4 May End the Current Storyline

Activision recently advertised that the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be the “epic conclusion,” suggesting that the next entry in the Modern Warfare series could be the end of an era.
Going Dark?
In a recent X post featuring the latest trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Activision said MW4 will be an “epic conclusion” to the modern Modern Warfare series. However, it’s unclear whether this will permanently end the universe, or whether the game will simply wrap up the ongoing storyline that’s been running for over the past 5 years.

Either way, it is possible, since Activision previously stated they are moving away from the yearly release cycle. This could also have shifted their vision for how they approach not just their campaigns, but the overarching timeline as well.
Naturally, like any discussion revolving around the COD community, there are always extremes on both ends. Some fans want the current version of the series to continue past MW4, while others are calling for yet another reboot or a separate but new entry in the series.
Still, one thing is for sure: we don’t know what the future holds for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, or the series as a whole, since the change in development means fans aren’t 100% sure what any of the studios are cooking up.
