GTA VI Age Rating Explained
With the launch of GTA VI less than a month away, new information about the game’s age rating has released. With preliminary guidance available and a full breakdown leaked, here’s all you need to know about GTA VI’s age ratings.
ESRB Listing
The next highly anticipated release from Rockstar Games, GTA VI, is set to come out on November 19th. With this date rapidly approaching new details have begun to appear about the titles potential age rating. Whilst this may not look the most interesting on the surface, these age ratings often contain information that hasn’t been shown yet. This is important for parents or people buying GTA VI as a gift who want to make sure it’s appropriate, or for enthusiasts who are curious about what Rockstar might be hiding before the full release.
To start, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has created a page for GTA VI. Within it, ESRB describes how GTA VI features “Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, and Use of Drugs and Alcohol.”
This is an early description, and will be updated with more information closer to launch. GTA V‘s page, for example, details the types of weapons players can use, as well as the explicit actions that players can take.
PEGI Leaked
However, we may have some insight into what this more detailed page could look like. Earlier this month, the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) rating for GTA VI was leaked.

The page has been taken down now, but while it was up the full description for GTA VI was available. The PEGI rating includes several details that have already been shown by Rockstar. Such as the two playable characters and the open world elements. But it also calls attention to how “violence is bloody with a high degree of realism”, and how “drug use is featured and prominent with the player being able to partake in drug use with others.”
With these new details revealed, its easy to see why GTA VI is rated as “Mature” and “18+” for its launch next month.
