SPRAWL Zero Is a Modern Retro FPS Masterpiece

The time has finally come. One of the best retro-inspired FPS games just dropped, and it’s everything we could have wanted and more. SPRAWL Zero is a fast-paced FPS that is heavily inspired by and successfully captures the vibe of early 2000s FPS games, whilst keeping all the modern improvements. It’s a wonderful blend of new tech and old styles, with everything from slow-motion gunfights and using Gravity Gloves to turn objects and the environment against your enemies, all backed up by a massive arsenal of over 40 weapons and a killer Y2K cyberpunk vibe that will make you crawl back for more.

Enter the SPRAWL

SPRAWL Zero captures the vibe, gunplay, and aesthetic of that awesome game your older brother played when you were younger, but never let you touch the controller. It draws inspiration from beloved classics like Halo, FEAR, Half-Life 2, and maybe a little bit of Titanfall.

You step into the boots of FIVE, a cybernetically augmented supersoldier controlled by the Junta. Your directive is to eliminate SILAS, the leader of a radical techno-religious group known as the IMAGO-DEI. Fight your way through an endless cyberpunk megalopolis, thrown into chaos as dozens of factions attempt to take the reins.

Combat in SPRAWL Zero is very fast, but not unnecessarily jumpy or twitchy. It’s grounded, has weight, and packs a punch. Despite there being 40 different weapons, each one feels very unique. They’re often familiar, but different enough to catch you by surprise with, at the very least, their amazing sound design.

A Modern Classic

But what easily sets this game apart from the rest is what you are fighting against. The enemy AI is far beyond what average FPS games offer you. Enemies will communicate with one another, attempt to flank, and outposition you during gunfights.

But you will need to do more than just outsmart your enemy. You need to control the flow of combat. Catch their bullets and throw them right back with the Gravity Shield, or bend your shots midair with Bullet-Time for inhuman precision. Use your augmented body to its full capacity and push the limits of your combat prowess.

We could go on and on about the amazing level design, set pieces, soundtrack, enemy variety, and much more, but then we would be here all day. And we don’t want to spoil too much for you.
