The Risk of Rain 2 developers just put out their 4th and final Dev Diary for the upcoming Hallowed Concepts DLC. This Dev Diary shows off a lot more gameplay of the brand-new survivors, along with a discussion of their entire ability kits and playstyles.

Hallowed Concepts Dev Diary #4

This Risk of Rain 2 Dev Diary is the last in the series before the Hallowed Concepts DLC drops. This entry gives fans a closer look at both upcoming survivors: the returning Enforcer and the new Acolyte.

The Enforcer

Ultimately, both of these survivors play completely differently, yet in a strange way complement one another. The Enforcer is the perfect character for newer players or those who enjoy tanky frontliners. Easily, the most standout part of the Enforcer’s kit is his ability to block any and all damage from one direction, so long as his shield is up.

He also has the ability to parry incoming projectiles back to their original creators, if you hit the timing right. He can also establish a rallying point, which grants a stacking shield to himself and his nearby allies for every kill inside the arena. The rallying point also calls all stationary turrets in the stage to the flag, making him the perfect survivor for buying turrets, next to Captain, of course.

The Acolyte

As for the Acolyte, she’s already proving to be one of the harder characters to master. Firstly, her passive changes how healing works for her; HP she loses and healing she gains are put aside in a separate HP pool she can reclaim via some of her other abilities. The lower her health, the faster she attacks.

Her other skills allow her to cash in on that health reserve, but it quickly depletes if you are out of combat for too long, so she’s a very nimble but risk-reward character.

However, we don’t fully know parts of her kit because of spoilers. But apparently she can drain and sacrifice enemies to fill a meter, and when it’s full she can transform? We don’t get to see this transformation, but it might be similar to how Void Fiend’s transformation works.

Despite this being the last Dev Diary before the Hallowed Concepts drops for Risk of Rain 2, we still don’t have a release date.
