Valheim 1.0 Is Here With the Deep North Update

By EncampedWeevil | Today at 1:00am

The big day has arrived. Valheim 1.0, the Deep North update, is here, and there’s a bunch of new enemies, items, weapons, and more to discover not just in the cold north, but in the older lands as well.

1.0 Highlight Patch Notes

Since this is a survival crafting game, it’s common for a lot of players in the community to remain spoiler-free for new content outside of official promotional material. To honor that spirit, we want to cover what’s arriving in Valheim 1.0 with as few spoilers as possible.

Now with that out of the way, let’s get into the highlights:

  •  New Biome: The Deep North
  • 40+ New weapons
  • New bombs and ammunition
  • 30+ New crafting materials
  • 20+ New food items
  • 4 New armor sets
  • 2 New trinkets
  • 2 New capes
  • 10+ New creatures
  • 80+ New buildable pieces
  • 5 New crafting-related build pieces
  • New locations
  • New events
  • New mechanics
  • New events
  • Upgradeable pockets
  • Achievements

So outside of all of the new weapons, items, and enemies found in the Deep North, there are a few special things we do want to highlight. This section will include some light spoilers, so if you want to go in as blind as possible, proceed with caution.

First, you might have noticed there are new Upgradeable pockets. One of the biggest complaints about Valheim is that the inventory limit was always a pain. Up to this point, there was no way to expand it outside of mods. But now Haldor will sell you inventory upgrades!

Some of the additional new creatures added in this update also aren’t exclusive to the Deep North. So keep an eye out for them when you’re wandering through the older biomes.

And now for a few other small highlights:

  • New graphic setting for draw distance
  • Menu overhaul for hammer and serving tray
  • All hair and beard styles now available from the start
  • Rebalanced enemy spawn chance in Ashlands
  • Overhauled descriptions

If you truly want to be spoiled on whatever the new content is for the Deep North, you can, of course, check out the official patch notes, but we highly recommend going in blind.

Good luck out there, Vikings!
