SEGA Lists Upcoming Games, but Many Still Do Not Have Release Dates

By Jaymo | Yesterday

Half of 2026 is already over, but developers definitely still have plenty of things planned. And if we are talking about games to come, SEGA has shared an updated look at their upcoming games and release plans! It is a good time to go over the new dates and also remind us just how many of the publisher’s announced projects are still waiting for one. For the end of 2026 and start of 2027, SEGA currently has multiple main games planned already.

  • Sonic Frontiers: Definitive Edition
    • Already launched digitally on June 24, 2026
    • Physical version is scheduled to follow on September 17.
  • Metaphor: ReFantazio
    • Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12
  • Stranger Than Heaven
    • Releases on January 15, 2027
  • Persona 4 Revival
    • Releases on February 18, 2027

That is a pretty solid lineup for the next few months, but SEGA’s list of upcoming projects gets particularly interesting when you are looking beyond those confirmed dates. A lot of games are planned that do not even have dates yet!

A Lot of SEGA Games Still Do Not Have a Release Date

2027 will definitely include a lot more games coming from SEGA! Crazy Taxi: World Tour and Virtua Fighter: Crossroads, for example, are already planned for 2027, but they just do not have a specific date yet. But at least if you are waiting for any of those two, you know they are coming next year for sure. Unless things get delayed, of course.

But then, there is the much longer list of games simply marked as “TBD”, so no date at all, not even a year in sight:

  • Persona 6
  • Total War: Warhammer 40,000
  • Total War: Medieval III
  • Alien: Isolation 2
  • Golden Axe
  • Jet Set Radio
  • Streets of Rage

And that is where things get a little… funny. Some of these games were announced ages ago, meaning we have been hearing about them for a surprisingly long time without knowing when we will really be able to play them. A lot of SEGA’s projects were revealed very early in their development, and the current schedule shows that quite a few are still nowhere near having a public release date. Of course, there is nothing inherently wrong with announcing a game early. Developers can change direction, projects can take longer than expected, and some games simply need years of development before they are ready to be shown.

But players are wondering if publishers should really announce games quite so early in development in the first place.

For them, there is a pretty obvious downside. Once a game has been announced, it is easy to start thinking about it as something that is coming soon. Then years go by with little or no information, and eventually it can feel like you are waiting forever for something that technically does not even have a release date yet. SEGA’s current lineup is a pretty good example of that. At least we now have some concrete dates to look forward to with Stranger Than Heaven and Persona 4 Revival!

As for the rest, it seems we will just have to keep waiting for SEGA to decide when they are finally ready to show us the rest.
