Nomura Addresses Kingdom Hearts 4 Delay Rumors

By Jaymo | 6 Days Ago

After the latest Kingdom Hearts 4 trailers finally gave us a release window for late 2027, some fans were already wondering if the game could be delayed into 2028. Well, you will be happy to hear that, according to director Tetsuya Nomura, you do not need to worry about that!

Nomura addressed the speculation directly, saying he had seen comments online suggesting that Kingdom Hearts 4 would be delayed beyond 2027. He wanted to set the record straight and make it clear that this will not happen.

In fact, Nomura says development is progressing faster than he expected. He explained that he is heading back to Tokyo tomorrow (well, today at the time of writing this now), and that the game’s mastered version is currently progressing much faster than he had imagined. Because of that, he says Kingdom Hearts 4 will not be delayed and asks fans to look forward to it.

So there you have it. Kingdom Hearts 4 is going to release in late 2027, and Nomura does not expect that window to change.

Of course, plans can always change in game development, especially this far ahead of release. But it is certainly reassuring to hear this directly from Nomura, particularly after fans immediately started speculating about a 2028 release following yesterday’s announcement. For now, it sounds like Kingdom Hearts 4 is moving along better than Nomura expected. And after the amount of new footage we have received over the last couple of days, it definitely feels like Square Enix is finally ready to start showing us what the game has been working toward!
