Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 Console and Controller Designs Leak
By Jaymo | Today at 12:01pmIf you are like us and waiting for the release date announcement of the Zelda Ocarina of Time remake, this one might make your day!
We may have accidentally gotten a first look at what could be a The Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary Switch 2 console and Pro Controller. And if these leaked designs are real, Zelda fans have something pretty special to look forward to. Images showing what appear to be the unfolded packaging designs for the console and controller have been shared, with the artwork and branding Nintendo could use for a future Zelda-themed Switch 2 release.
As always with leaked material like this, none of it has been officially confirmed by Nintendo, so it should be treated as a rumor for now!
A Zelda Switch 2 With Plenty of Gold
The leaked Switch 2 design is clearly leaning into the classic Zelda look, with the dock featuring a combination of black and gold and a huge Triforce design in the middle. The Joy-Con 2 controllers are also shown with a green color scheme and Triforce patterns, fitting the series’ iconic association with Link. A Triforce symbol is also featured on the left Joy-Con.

If this is real, the overall design is just amazing compared to some special-edition consoles that the Switch got. The black, gold, and green combination works extremely well for a special edition themed around Zelda. Even the packaging itself is perfect! It also has a 40th anniversary logo for The Legend of Zelda, with Link depicted in his original 8-bit style.
The Pro Controller Looks Just as Good
The leaked Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller follows a similar black, gold, and green color scheme. In the middle, you have the Hylian Crest. And it is honestly perfectly fitting in between the controller’s buttons. Left and right of the controller you have additional black and green handles, and around the Crest, a ton of golden and black Triforces. A lot of details that clearly give it a distinctly Zelda-inspired look.

If Nintendo really releases this design, it could become one of the best special editions for Switch 2.
Could It Be Connected to Ocarina of Time?
There is already plenty of speculation about when Nintendo could officially reveal the console. One possibility being that Nintendo could announce the Zelda 40th anniversary edition alongside news about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. We know that the remake is going to release before the end of the year, so the timing of the leak is definitely fitting. It could be announced at the same time as the release date for the remake, with a special edition that combines the exclusive console and the game.
However, that is speculation on top of a leak, so it is worth keeping expectations in check. For now, we will have to wait for Nintendo to make things official. If these leaked designs turn out to be real, though, that Zelda 40th anniversary Switch 2 is looking pretty damn good.
