Tides of Annihilation Has More Customization Than You Might Expect
By Jaymo | Today at 4:04pmTides of Annihilation is allowing you to customize both Gwendolyn and the Knights of the Round Table! Yes, you read that right!
The developers have shared some new details about the game’s customization systems, revealing that you will not just be changing how Gwendolyn looks. Some customization options will also have an impact on how she plays, and you can even customize the Knights that fight alongside her!
Gwendolyn Can Equip Different Swords and Armor
As you explore the world, you will find new items, and Gwendolyn will be able to equip different swords and armor pieces throughout her journey. That gives you more options to change up your equipment as you progress through the game, and different equipment should modify how Gwen looks as well. The game basically has light RPG elements alongside its action combat, including equipment and weapon customization.
There will also be various themed outfits that you can find throughout the world. So you have another way to change Gwendolyn’s appearance as you progress through the game. If you are the type of player who likes collecting different outfits along the way, it looks like Tides of Annihilation will have something for you to look for and collect.

Badges Can Change Your Playstyle
The more interesting part of the customization reveal, however, is the game’s badge system. You can equip different badges that provide special effects, with the potential to drastically change how Gwendolyn plays. It seems like you can equip a total of 4 badges, but we do not know if these slots unlock directly or if you need to complete specific quests to unlock all of them.
Depending on the badges you equip, they can apparently influence your playstyle and allow you to build Gwendolyn around different approaches to combat. This should give you another way to experiment with her, outside of picking the gear and weapon.
You Can Customize the Knights Too
Gwendolyn is not the only character you will be able to customize.
The Knights of the Round Table can also be customized! This does make sense considering just how important they are to Tides of Annihilation’s combat. Gwendolyn can summon spectral versions of the legendary knights and use their different abilities during combat, and you can also build your own combinations of knights. The developers have previously described the Knight system as one of the game’s core mechanics. You can build your own Order and combine the abilities of more than ten legendary knights.
That means customization is not just about making Gwendolyn look different. You are also effectively building the group of Knights that accompanies her into battle.
So between weapons, armor, outfits, badges, and Knight customization, Tides of Annihilation appears to have quite a few different ways to customize not only your character, but also how she plays! We will likely learn more about exactly what the badges can do and how customization works during the Gamescom presentation tomorrow evening.
For now, at least, it looks like Tides of Annihilation will not just be about finding the coolest-looking sword, but you will also have plenty of ways to build and customize Gwendolyn and her Knights!
