Overwatch Is Getting a New Halloween Event in Season 5

Overwatch and Halloween always mean a pretty cool event and a ton of new spooky skins! And it seems we will have a lot to look forward to later this year.

Game director Aaron Keller has teased that a Halloween-themed event is being prepared for Season 5, describing it as something that should be “really fun.” Keller also hinted that there is still another Overwatch story planned for later this year that we will apparently enjoy. Halloween has become one of Overwatch’s best recurring seasonal traditions, and Blizzard is not leaving it behind this year. Sadly, he has not revealed exactly what it will include yet. That means we are still waiting for details on things like the event’s game mode, rewards, cosmetics, and when exactly it will begin.

For now, all we know is that Blizzard is working on something Halloween-related and Keller seems pretty confident that players will have fun with it. That is not much to go on, but considering how many different types of events Overwatch has used for its seasonal themes over the years, there is plenty of room for Blizzard to try something new.

Another Overwatch Story Is Also Coming

The Halloween tease was not the only interesting thing Keller mentioned. The game director also revealed that there is still another story coming this year, saying that it is something Overwatch fans will really enjoy.

Again, Blizzard has not shared any specific details about what this story will be. It could potentially link into the game’s ongoing Talon story, but it is too early to say exactly what form it will take.

For now, it simply gives us another reason to keep an eye on the later seasons of Overwatch.

More Details Should Come Later

There is obviously not much to report about the Halloween event yet, but it is nice to know Blizzard is already planning it.

The studio has also been experimenting with different event formats, so it will be interesting to see if this year’s Halloween celebration sticks with the traditional Halloween Terror formula or tries something different.

For now, though, the basics are confirmed: Overwatch Season 5 will have a Halloween-themed event, and another story is still planned for later this year.

We will have to wait for Blizzard to reveal what exactly it has in store. Who knows, maybe we will get some cool information during BlizzCon about it!
