Peak: The Final Ascent Brings New Biomes and More
By EncampedWeevil | YesterdayAggro Crab is back with the final major update for Peak: The Final Ascent. This major update brings new variant biomes: Gloom and The Citadel, which will cycle out with Caldera and the Kiln.
The Final Ascent
The day has finally arrived. The Final Ascent marks the final major update for Peak, adding two new biomes, a handful of secret items and areas to uncover, and 10 new badges for climbers to earn.
Like previous biome updates, these new areas will be part of each new daily map for the next two weeks. Afterward, biomes will return to being random spawns in the daily map rotation.
Additional Features
The Final Ascent update for Peak is also bringing a handful of extra features to the game. Firstly, Ascent 8 has now been added. Additionally, Ascent 7 has been changed:
- We felt that preventing players from reviving, while it did make it a challenge, made this Ascent less fun and was not in the spirit of the game (and its meaningless in a solo run!).
Instead of “You cannot revive the dead” it’s now “Start cursed and take more curse from revival” to properly punish repeated deaths without locking players out of the rest of the run entirely.
There are now 10 new Badges to unlock, along with matching cosmetics, which will be the last set of achievements coming to Peak. So if you have been trying to go for that 100% achievement, now is the time.
There are also some new items and a new type of luggage, clown luggage, to be exact. When opening Clown luggage, you have a chance to get: The Lollipop, Cannon, and Balloon Bunch, instead of the items inside climber luggage.
As for the new items, players are getting:
- Jetpack
- Warp Fungus
- Glider
- & More
Finally, mysterious statues have begun appearing all over the island; no one knows where they originally came from, but they seem to have a connection to the Scoutmaster’s original lost troop.
Why Is This the Final Update for Peak?

In case you are wondering about the future of Peak and/or why this is the final major update, the developers have put out a statement:
As we’ve said since the beginning, PEAK isn’t a live-service-game. We intended to release a game that was “finished” on launch, and any major content updates would be the cherry on top. Due to the game’s overwhelming success, we’ve already spent quite a bit more time on it than we originally expected, and added so much more to it! We don’t wish for it to become a “forever game” where we constantly add new things that bloat the experience, just to try to keep people’s attention.
A small team develops PEAK, made up of developers from two studios, Aggro Crab and Landfall. As much as we all love the game, we want to return to working on our own separate projects.
But PEAK isn’t going anywhere!!! You’ll always be able to keep playing it, and we will continue to provide bug fixes and maintenance until we are satisfied with the game’s stability.
