Gears of War: E-Day Gets New Story Trailer

By EncampedWeevil | Today at 10:30pm

During the opening show for Gamescom 2026, Gears of War: E-Day fans finally got a brand-new trailer showcasing more of the campaign and story. This latest look takes us deeper into the opening hours of E-Day, giving us a glimpse at the collapse of civilization, the rise of the Locust, and the COG’s desperate struggle to understand the threat emerging from beneath their feet.

E-Day Official Story Trailer

E-Day is almost here, and The Coalition is giving fans another look at the terrifying events that nearly brought humanity to its knees. The latest story trailer finally pulls back the curtain on Emergence Day, showing the chaos, destruction, and sheer panic that followed the Locust’s first appearance.

For the first time, we get a closer look at Bravo Squad and the soldiers thrown directly into the chaos. The trailer also takes us beneath the surface, offering a glimpse of the Locust’s underground colonies and the horrifying creatures waiting below. At the same time, the COG is completely blind to what it’s facing, leaving soldiers scrambling to understand this mysterious enemy and figure out how to fight back.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the trailer, however, is the introduction of a brand-new Locust antagonist. We still don’t know who this character is or what their name might be, but judging by the number of Locust under their command, they clearly aren’t just another grunt. Something must be special about them, and hopefully E-Day will explain exactly where they fit in the Locust hierarchy.

However, rumors suggest this new antagonist might be Vraak or Vraakth, who may have connections to High General Vold Sraak, the original High General during the Lambent War before Raam overthrew him. But we have no confirmation on this.

The Past Effects the Future

Interestingly, we also aren’t seeing much of General Raam, despite his importance to the original trilogy. That raises even more questions about the Locust’s leadership in the war’s earliest days. We also still don’t know where some of these new Locust creatures originate from.

We’ve already encountered a few new enemies during the beta, and it’s great to see The Coalition expanding the Locust roster with new and terrifying variants. However, there’s one question that immediately comes to mind: if these creatures were around during E-Day, why don’t we see them in the later Gears of War games?

Obviously, the answer could be that these variants are rare, or that they were eventually wiped out. But considering how much E-Day is expected to expand the lore surrounding the Locust, there’s a good chance we’ll get an explanation for their disappearance.

We’ll have to wait until October 6 to find out the full story.
