Final Fantasy VII Revelation Finally Gets a Release Date
By Jaymo | Today at 1:00pmNot long ago, we received more information about the final part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but Square Enix did not share a release date then. This has now changed after yesterday’s State of Play!
After years of waiting, Final Fantasy 7 fans finally have a date for the final chapter of Square Enix’s Remake trilogy. Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on April 8, 2027, bringing Cloud and the gang’s journey to its conclusion. The game will release simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
The release date also came with a new trailer and a lot of additional information!
New Gameplay Systems and Exploration
One of the biggest additions is the dynamic character switching. This system will allow you to instantly swap between party members when you are exploring the open world. Giving how big it will probably be, this is pretty good news! It means no need to open your party screen constantly to change your party around or things like that! Certain quests will also let you pick the character that takes part, and those decisions can potentially change story events and gameplay scenarios. So if you are the type of person that always plays with the same party, you might want to switch it up depending on the situation here, because keeping always the 3 same characters might change the outcome of things!
Exploration is getting some new additions as well, including a grappling gun designed to help you reach previously inaccessible areas. This should make exploration feel much better.
Chocobos are also becoming more involved in the adventure. Your Chocobo will be able to fight alongside you and level up, giving the iconic bird a bigger role beyond simply helping you run faster across the map.

The game is also introducing four “FITS” available at launch. For those who do not know what that is, FITS are basically specific gear that gives a unique “class” to your character. Launch comes with Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. These provide additional ways to customize how characters fight, the abilities they have access to, etc.
Queen’s Blood Returns
Fans of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s surprisingly addictive card game will be happy to hear that Queen’s Blood is returning. This time, however, the minigame is getting its own story around Red XIII. Square Enix is also introducing new Queen’s Blood challenges that can change how matches will play out. So if you love this card game, know that you will have plenty of things to do with it this time!
And if that is not enough content, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will also receive two story DLCs as part of its Story Expansion Pass. Square Enix has yet to reveal the full details of these expansions, but we do have the names:
- Story DLC 1: Sephiroth
- Story DLC 2: Vincent & the Turks
So one DLC focused on Sephiroth, and one on Vincent. This is pretty interesting because it means more details about 2 extremely popular characters! I think the Sephiroth one will most likely be about First Soldier and his early story, and the Vincent one around his time at the Turks and his own story. It is important to know that these two DLCs are included in the Collector’s Edition only, so if you are only getting the normal or Deluxe version, you will have to buy the DLCs later on.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is probably what you could call the “culmination of the trilogy” that began with Final Fantasy 7 Remake and continued with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Now that we have the date, April 8, 2027, it is only a matter of time before we can discover how all of this ends!
