During today’s State of Play livestream, fans got another fresh look at METRO 2039, with a brand-new gameplay trailer and, most importantly, the long-awaited release date. Following its showcase at Gamescom, 4A Games has finally confirmed when players can step back into the post-apocalyptic world of Metro.

The Metro Calls

Alongside the new trailer, which features brand-new gameplay captured on console, we now know that METRO 2039 is officially launching on February 4, 2027, across all platforms.

As for the trailer. This brand-new footage gives fans the longest look at combat yet, as the developers wanted this entry to align more closely with the classic trailers. However, unlike previous showcases, METRO 2039 marks a major visual leap for the series, becoming the first game built from the ground up for ray tracing with the proprietary 4A Engine.

Plus, at launch, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 5 Pro players will have access to a 60 FPS Performance Mode with ray tracing support. You can see this in the trailer, as all the footage was captured on a PlayStation 5 Pro.

If you’re a huge fan of the Metro series and want to get the most out of your pre-order, you can also check out the METRO 2039 Collector’s Edition while supplies last.
