Slay the Spire 2 Teases Alternate Act 2 and New Character

The developers behind Slay the Spire 2 have just dropped their monthly Neowsletter, giving players another look at what’s happening behind the scenes. This month’s update includes progress on the previously discussed roadmap, a few exciting teasers for future updates, and plenty of hints about what’s coming next.

Several features from the previously discussed roadmap are finally moving forward. Some of the additions currently in development include:

• Steam Workshop support
• Initial scaffolding for The Bestiary
• The Badge and Score system
• Traditional Chinese and Indonesian localization
• Plenty of new cards and relics

However, the most exciting part of the update is what the team plans to focus on next.

New Content

The developers are currently shifting their attention toward several major additions, including:

• Experimental game modes
• An alternate Act 2
• A brand-new character

According to the Neowsletter, development is beginning to ramp up in these new areas, and the alternate Act 2 and new character are easily the biggest reveals. An entirely new version of one of the game’s core acts could bring some major changes to how runs play out, while a new character means even more ways to build decks and experiment with different strategies.

The only downside is that, as development shifts toward these larger additions, updates may become a little quieter for a while.

The most recent major updates from the beta branch introduced a new boss, balance changes, and a selection of new cards and relics. Still, we definitely weren’t expecting Mega Crit to start teasing an alternate Act 2 this soon, let alone an entirely new character.

For now, that’s all we know. We’ll likely have to wait until the next update makes its way out of the beta branch, but Slay the Spire 2 is clearly shaping up to have some major additions on the horizon.
