Nopixel V: All You Need To Know

As Nopixel V prepares to launch its closed beta, we’ve collected all the must-know information about this next generation of GTA V role-play servers. From large its environment changes, its expanded character creator, to even its approval by Rockstar themselves, here’s all you need to know about Nopixel V.

What Is Nopixel V?

Nopixel V is a custom Grand Theft Auto V role-play server built to elevate the experience of being someone living in Los Santos. With immersion and grounding at the center of many of these changes, Nopixel V is a major evolution of the existing Nopixel servers. The big announcement, however, is that Rockstar Games has thrown their official support behind the project! This may come as a surprise, given that Grand Theft Auto VI is only a couple months away, but with most of the studio heads down on that project, it makes sense to back one of the largest community efforts in supporting their older title.

Speaking of community efforts, lets go over some of Nopixel V’s most important additions!

Large Map Changes

Some of the more obvious additions to Nopixel V are the sweeping changes to Grand Theft Auto V’s environments!

From a more detailed downtown to new apartments and housing, Nopixel V set out “to overhaul and refresh the existing world by enriching it with new locations. We updated many aspects of the GTA V map and reworked existing assets and textures, all tailored to create an immersive, next-level roleplay experience”, the Nopixel team explained in a development blog-post.

But a detailed world is nothing without characters to live in it.

Deeper Characters

When its comes to role-play the formula is simple. The more unique, expressive, or realistic a player character gets, the more interesting and enjoyable they are to watch. Nopixel V has taken this challenge by the horns and rebuilt their character creator from the ground up!

This new character creator comes with faces and bodies built on 3D scan data, with a greater range of ethnicities and face-shapes. Skin details like freckles or blemishes have been upscaled, and larger body types have proper support at last! Additionally, clothing and hairstyles have been greatly expanded, with a dedicated compatibility system in place to make sure that all pieces of apparel work with every hair, body, arm, and leg type.

An Immersive World

In another post Nopixel V explains how it “delivers a comprehensive visual overhaul, combining enhanced shaders and lighting, new day/night time cycles, refreshed foliage, rebuilt roads, and parallax interiors to create a city that feels more dynamic, atmospheric, and immersive at every hour of the day.”

These are definitely bold claims, but if these screenshots or their trailer are anything to go by they will have given life to a game originally designed for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

On top of all this graphical work, Nopixel V also mentions how it includes reworked NPC interactions, in-world decay and illness, as well as several combat changes such as crouching, leaning, and climbing.

With all of this together, Nopixel V looks like its shaping up to be one of the most comprehensive overhauls to Grand Theft Auto V. This huge, living, role-play server launches into closed beta on September 8th.
