Marvel Rivals Reveals The Hood for Season 9.5

By EncampedWeevil | Aug 4, 2026

Marvel Rivals is back with another Season 9.5 reveal, and the developers have officially unveiled the newest Vanguard, The Hood. While fans already knew The Hood was joining the roster as the mid-season addition, one detail caught almost everyone by surprise: instead of being a Duelist, The Hood is actually a Vanguard, making them the game’s newest Tank.

The Hood Joins Marvel Rivals

The Hood is an oppressive ranged tank whose attack speed ramps up the longer they stay in a fight. Once their meter fills, their demonic side takes over, replacing their pistols with infernal rifles while retaining the attack speed bonus and granting unlimited ammo for a short time.

Despite their massive health pool, much of The Hood’s kit looks and feels more like a DPS hero. They excel at laying down relentless suppressive fire, but their defensive abilities are what truly make them a Vanguard.

The Hood can summon a protective barrier around themself, which also appears to help build their passive meter. They can also conjure a wall of shadow that nullifies incoming projectiles and blinds enemies who pass through it, making it a decent tool for controlling space and protecting teammates.

One of the more unique abilities in their arsenal lets them phase out of the battlefield, much like Scarlet Witch, granting full flight before reappearing in a small explosion. It gives The Hood a surprising amount of mobility for a tank and should make repositioning or diving onto the objective much easier.

For their Ultimate, The Hood fully embraces their demonic form, transforming into a gigantic stationary gun. Every shot fired during this state pierces shields and even Groot Walls, allowing them to pressure entire teams regardless of their defenses.

The Hood looks poised to become one of Marvel Rivals’ most aggressive Vanguards. Their kit blends relentless ranged pressure with strong defensive utility, making them feel like a run-and-gun DPS wrapped inside a tank’s health bar.
