A New Ori Game Could Be Revealed at Gamescom
By Jaymo | Today at 5:24pmIt looks like Ori could be making a comeback! Reliable leaker NateTheHate has revealed that the new game he was previously teasing is reportedly a new Ori game currently in development. As always with reports like this, keep in mind that it is just a leak, and this has not been officially announced yet. NateTheHate has also specified he is not sure if the game will be shown at Gamescom.
In a recent discussion, the leaker specified that when he previously teased a new Xbox announcement, this is what he meant:
“A new Ori is what I was referring to.”
Could Ori 3 Be Shown at Gamescom?
That is currently the big question. Gamescom Opening Night Live is coming up on August 25, a lot of games have already been confirmed by Geoff Keighley, and a new Ori game would definitely be an interesting addition for the event. The series has not received a new entry since Ori and the Will of the Wisps in 2020, so it has been a long time as well.
But sadly, there is currently no confirmation that Ori will be part of Opening Night Live.
NateTheHate specifically said that he is still waiting for confirmation on the matter, so it is probably best not to get too carried away just yet.
What Would an Ori 3 Look Like?
We do not have any details about the game itself at this point. There is no official title, release date, gameplay footage, or announcement from the developer or anyone else. There are also no details about the story, if it will be a new story in the same universe, or something else entirely.
The original two games were developed by Moon Studios, but the studio has since moved on to its next project, No Rest for the Wicked. So that also means we do not even know who could be working on a new Ori game. For now, that is all speculation.
What is interesting is simply that NateTheHate appears confident enough to say that Ori is indeed in development, and he is usually a pretty reliable leaker, but right now, there is too little information for us to be able to say this is all happening. The timing is also interesting, since both games made their way to Nintendo Switch as well, so a new entry could potentially be interesting for Nintendo fans too, particularly now that the Nintendo Switch 2 is available. We could maybe get a Switch 2 port of the first two games, and on top of that, a trailer for the third one, something like that.
But for the moment, there is not much more to say beyond the rumor itself.
A new Ori game is reportedly in development, but it has not been officially announced yet, and there is no confirmation that we will see it at Gamescom. Given the convention starts in a few days, we will have an answer to all that soon enough!
