GTA VIGTA 6 Is Changing How Respawning Works After You Die or Get Arrested

By now you probably realised that GTA 6 is really going to play and feel different than the previous games. It seems Rockstar adjusted everything, from the biggest feature to the little systems we have become used to in previous games, and the latest creator previews have revealed some interesting changes to what happens when Jason or Lucia gets wasted or arrested.

One of the biggest changes is that you apparently will not simply wake up outside a hospital or police station every time something goes wrong. Instead, the game can respawn you near where you died or were arrested, making the whole system feel way different.

And thankfully, Rockstar is also getting rid of one particularly annoying part of the old system.

No More Hospital Bills Every Time You Die

Getting wasted in GTA 6 is not going to leave you with a hospital bill if you get wasted. According to the previews, Rockstar deliberately removed that system because they did not want players going broke simply because they died too many times. There is, however, another financial consequence you need to worry about, since any cash you are carrying can be lost when you die or get arrested.

Money you have already deposited into your bank account is safe, meaning you will have a good reason to regularly stop at an ATM and deposit your cash instead of walking around with everything you have earned. Because if you die, well… you lose all the money you have on you at that moment. This also means that if you rob a bank, you might want to make sure you can make it out of there alive, or at least long enough so you can put it all in a safe place first.

The bank account is also shared between Jason and Lucia, so you do not have to worry about transferring money between the two characters.

If you have stolen goods in a duffel bag, you will first need to take them to a fence to turn that loot into actual cash before you can bank it. You cannot just give anything to the bank, it needs to be actual cash.

Your Weapons Are Not Gone Forever

Losing your cash is not the only thing that happens when you die or get arrested, but at least your personal weapons are not simply gone. You can recover those from the trunk of your vehicle after you respawn.

So not only can you store more weapons and clothes in your car, but if you die, everything is basically still in there. The question is more: can you recover your car or not if you get arrested with it?

Your Car Can Come Back to You

To answer the previous question, we have a small answer. If your personal vehicle gets destroyed, you do not necessarily have to go searching for a replacement. You can call Scooter Bros, pay a small fee, and have your vehicle delivered back to you. The fun part is that this is not just some instant menu teleport. An NPC really arrives on a scooter, delivers your car, and then rides away.

It is completely unnecessary, but honestly, it is the kind of ridiculous little detail that makes GTA 6 feel like Rockstar is taking its world simulation very seriously this time.

Stolen Cars Have Their Own Rules

This previous method works for your own personal cars, but there is also a new distinction between cars you own and vehicles you are simply driving around in. An unregistered vehicle appears as a gray icon on the minimap, and if you quit the game without registering it, you can lose it. However, you do not necessarily have to register it immediately. If you cannot afford the registration cost, you can store the vehicle in your garage and come back to it once you have got enough money. But if you lose the car during a chase or something like that, chances are you will lose it if it was not registered in your name. We do not know if you lose anything you had stored in there as well, but the guess is that yes. SO you might want to make sure you only store valuable items in your own vehicles, and not inside those you stole.

So overall, yes, no more hospital and going bankrupt because of the bill. Money can be lost if not stored in a bank, if you die, you respawn nearby, and your personal weapons can be found in the trunk of your car, and you can call Scooter Bros to deliver your car directly to you. And this is just a small part of all the new features the game has to offer!
